The Earth's Best Five Equine Grooming tips
horses are magnificent animals known for their strength, speed, and beauty. Much of this comes natural to horses. They gain great strength and speed simply by running around. This being said, a horse can grow even stronger through rigorous training. Trainers may even help their horses with exercises to make them quicker.
Even though most horse owners do not have a need to make their equine friends stronger or faster, making them look their best can't hurt. In this article I will show you just how to do this. I'll go through my top five horse grooming tips to making your equine as beautiful as possible.
The first thing one must do is to buy the proper horse grooming supplies. You'll want to make sure you have everything you need before you start. This way you'll be able to get everything done at once and it will be less likely that you will forget things. Some of the most important things you should have in your horse grooming kit are: a hoof pick, a body brush, a mane and tail comb, and a curry comb.
Next, you'll want to start cleaning your horse from top to bottom. One mistake many people make is to start by scrubbing the horse's lower body. Once they are finished with the bottom, they head to the top and send all of the dirt from the top back down to the bottom. Clean the upper body first so that you won't have to clean the lower body twice.
After this, you want to make sure you always wipe off any dirt and mud out of the hoof before you begin to pick it. Attempting to pick the hoof out before you wash it will just make everything much harder. You'll end up having to pick it again once you've washed everything out.
Once you've done this, you might want to use a conditioner or spray on your horse to help everything grow out nicely. A wonderfully clean and well groomed horse still needs to have healthy hair in order to look good. A good conditioning spray will keep the hair growing nicely.
Lastly, make sure you always dry your horse off and keep them in a clean area until they are completely dry. When you let your horse out to pasture immediately after cleaning, they will only attract dust and dirt. They'll end up getting dirty again right away and it will break your heart.
